Welcome to the IT Artillery! We’re ESG’s internal IT support team and we’re starting this blog in an effort to create a forum in which IT professionals can share war stories and gain knowledge and insight from one another. Our musings should also serve to assist any computer user in becoming more efficient in their daily computing lives by keeping them better informed. We’re all about helping users become more efficient: that’s what we do. From a simple laptop repair like replacing a hard drive or testing the latest technology to see how it can benefit our organization, to upgrading and moving our data from one platform to another with zero downtime, we do it all.
To support any group of technology consumers, you have to be proactive. You have to know about the latest threats, such as viruses, malware, and phishing attacks, and you have to know about the latest software bugs that could spell trouble for the average user–because an informed user is far less likely to fall prey to such things. Our industry is forever changing, so you also need to be informed of the latest industry trends, news, and products and services to be better able to help decide the best path to the next level, the next platform, the next innovation that will make the end-users, and thus the organization, more prosperous.
Here, we’ll be posting all sorts of things we find in our daily adventures–from what works well for us and what doesn’t to news that affects our industry as well as tips, tweaks, alerts, and ideas that will help everyone with their everyday computing lives. We’ll also cover service outages and problems and even the quirky, strange, and sometimes just plain funny tech news and commentary.
Working in any IT department can be stressful at times, but ESG provides a unique opportunity for us: we get to work with some of the latest technology, gain remarkable insight into our industry, and drawn on a knowledge pool that is second to none.
We welcome your comments and feedback, so let us know what you think!
