ESG research indicates that iSCSI storage has experienced a significant increase in general market acceptance since 2006 and one of the key use-cases for the technology is in remote and branch office (ROBO) locations. This is especially true of enterprise organizations looking to support an increasing number of key applications at dozens—or even thousands—of remote sites. Using iSCSI at these remote locations provides a proven storage platform to accommodate data growth while minimizing the capital investments associated with equipment purchases and eliminating the operational expenses related to training staff in settings where IT budgets and skills are at a premium.
