I am a bit behind on my blog postings but it is a very busy time of the year:  a new version of Microsoft Exchange is on the horizon, users are trying to figure out the cheapest and safest way to complete a Windows 7 upgrade, IT departments are revamping compliance projects in order to meet all of the new regulations that the U.S. government endlessly imposes, most tech companies reported decent (”the economy is stabilizing”) earnings.   Other than that, I have been trying to build the Tech Baby a “balloon boy” costume.  This week’s bullets are other tech-related costumes I have considered for the Tech Baby:

  • A cloud.  Why not– it is the most overused, ambiguous, and confusing term in IT.  In fact, I am really thinking of having the Tech Baby dress up as two clouds – a public and private cloud – and visit each house twice.  Double the candy, double the confusion.
  • A hypervisor.  Everything below the waist will be virtualized – if one diaper stops working, the Tech Baby is automatically moved to another one.
  • A MySQL database.  Many folks will pay homage to Michael Jackson, Frankenstein, and other characters that have passed.  Who knows what Oracle and the European Commission will figure out regarding the “open source” database.
  • The “Conflicker” computer virus.  What?  It’s not like it is H1N1!
  • The “Droid” wireless phone operating system.   Instead of saying “trick or treat” we will teach the Tech Baby to say “Can you hear me now?”
  • The Mayor of Boston.  The Tech Baby can delete e-mails as well as anyone else.
